Activities for Children


Min.Age at the beginning of the Academic Year : 1 Yr. & 6 Months Play schools impart age-appropriate concepts and lessons, increase social adaptability and hone a child’s cognitive function. Play schools also teach children to recognize their own possessions.

The Toddler program includes playtime, rest, music and movement, stories, art activities, water play, exploration, outdoor fun and lots of love make up the toddler day with an aim towards the support of personal and social growth, language development and independence skills.

Teachers provide a setting which allows children to be creative and to explore their environment through their senses, by physically moving about and through social interaction with others.

Toilet training is an important focus of the two year old group, beginning when each child is ready with the staff and parents working together as a team.


Min.Age at the beginning of the Academic Year : 2 Yr. & 6 Months In Nursery children are engaged in the activities like counting, numbers recognition,reading & many more funfilled activites in purposeful manner.

The primary objective of Pre K program at GAFL is to provide an environment where child can express their self to the fullest. They first learn how to communicate, play and interact with others. Emphasis is placed on your child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical developmental needs on an individual basis. Your child’s curriculum includes music, art, dramatic play, calendar and weather study and listening skills. Fine and gross motor activities are also incorporated into the program throughout the year. The children are given opportunities throughout the week to participate in our 9 distinct Learning Centers that are designed with age appropriate activities. The curriculum is carefully designed to ensure a good foundation is laid for formal school education as well. This is accomplished by teaching children the English language using the ‘Jolly Phonics’ program. Through this program children are taken through the stages of Learning 26 letter sounds, Exposure to the stages of blending and segmenting CVC words Developing prewriting skills

Our Daily Routine includes

During the morning children participate in the “registration” and “circle time” which allows them to learn about their world through teacher directed activities. Throughout the day children are given opportunities to participate in various Learning Centers that are designed with age appropriate activities and choices.

During the “activity time”, children move freely around daily planned activities; such as art, science, water play, cooking, stories, puppets, sensory play, block building, music and movement and dramatic play. During the remainder of the afternoon our program is an open classroom. Your child will have an opportunity to pursue his or her own interests in various curriculum centers or to participate in planned activities both indoors and outdoors.

The Growing with Mathematics

Pre-K program has been designed to provide significant, carefully sequenced mathematics education.

This program integrates the best practices of both early childhood education and mathematics.

Children develop critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities through the many opportunities provided in the learning centers.

Children learn everything they need to be prepared for Kindergarten and beyond.

K1 & K2 program seeks to develop the child’s sense of self-worth as an active learner and member of the school community. Each child learns to assume responsibility, master skills, and solve problems. The classroom environment is designed to stimulate the child’s natural sense of wonder and curiosity through opportunities for fun, friendship, vigorous activity, adventure, and quiet reflection. A rich and varied curriculum, including language, mathematics, science and social studies, supports and promotes students’ intellectual development. Weekly learning experiences in art, music, drama, library, health, and physical education are also provided. Addressing the social and emotional needs of each child is an essential part of the K1 & K2 Program. Fundamental is a positive self-image for all children feeling confident about themselves and their ideas as well as their abilities. Each child is encouraged to take risks and to view mistakes as natural learning experiences. The ages of four to six are times when children become more sensitive and aware of those around them and learn to be tolerant and respectful of the differing ethnic origins, beliefs, feelings and abilities of others. Children also learn to develop and sustain good relationships.

english-languageAn environment rich in objects and experiences for thought and conversation extends each child’s language skills and builds his/her vocabulary. Daily reading of stories and poems strengthens his/her ability to empathize and to express his/her feelings and imagination, while the regular singing of songs develops their rhyming, memory, and word patterning skills. Each child is also encouraged to compose, dictate, and illustrate his/her own stories and poems on a regular basis. These creative writing projects teach them that language can be written and that what they think is important.
mathsThe K1&K2 mathematics program aims to excite the child’s curiosity about order, patterns, and relationships, which are the essence of mathematics. It enables them to grow in their understanding of the concepts of space, quantity and number, length, distance, area, volume, weight and time. They are encouraged to think for themselves, to solve problems independently and to experience math as an integral part of everyday life. Different kinds of activities build the essential math skills: matching, measuring, counting, ordering, sorting, comparing, predicting, estimating, combining and separating sets, patterning through block-building, use of manipulative, oral and movement games, songs, stories, art projects, cooking, classroom duties, and written assignments.
scienceEach child is encouraged to use all his senses to observe and explore the natural world around him. Materials, carefully selected to reveal facts about air, seasons, soil, plants, animals, magnets, and balance, stimulate their interest and enable them to develop concepts from the facts they discover. She is encouraged to share discoveries with her classmates in a group following the investigation period. Art projects, manipulative games and story reading also extend their science learning.
socialThe K1&K2 social studies program focuses on the child, his family, his class at school, and the school community. Their learning in this area is combined with language arts, math, science and art activities. The child also experiences the meaning of holidays and social traditions connected with them through songs, stories, experience writing and other special projects.
artsK1&K2 students explore the basic skills of constructing with paper, clay, recycled materials, fabric and a variety of other materials. They practice fine motor skills through the use of drawing media, brushes, scissors, and other art tools. Students are introduced to the elements of art; line, shape, colour, and texture; through projects and class discussions. Students develop their sensitivity for colour by viewing different paintings and by learning to mix paints. Experimentation and creative thinking are encouraged as students learn to explore their imaginations in an atmosphere as free as it is comfortable for each child. The art program is designed to develop the students’ confidence and joy in making art and displaying their work throughout the year.
danceThe music program in K1&K2 is a fun and active program for children with all levels of musical ability and provides a variety of singing, playing, creating, moving and listening activities. physical-educationThe K1&K2 physical education program is primarily devoted to the acquisition of fundamental motor patterns and manipulative skills and to the development of beginning levels of physical fitness. Simple organizational games, outdoor play equipment help students develop agility, strength, and endurance.
